Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back! We hope you all had a fantastic half-term break and that your little ones are refreshed and ready for another exciting term ahead.

We hope the children had fun tackling the Numbots challenges online over the break. If anyone is still unable to locate their login details, please contact Mrs. Watson via ClassDojo for a reminder.

What’s Coming Up This Half-Term?

📚 Book Fair – The book fair arrives this week, and you are welcome to visit after school. Purchases can be made easily using the online QR code.

📖 World Book Day – Thursday, 6th March – We’re excited to celebrate World Book Day, and children are welcome to come dressed as their favourite book character!

🔤 Phonics Focus – This half-term, we will be reviewing Phase 3 digraphs and trigraphs, writing longer words, introducing compound words, and exploring different word endings (-es, -ed, -ing). We’ll also continue working on letter formation, including curly caterpillar letters, one-armed robot letters, zigzag letters, and long ladder letters.

🔢 Maths Learning – We will be exploring numbers 9 and 10, learning about their composition, doubling, halving, and investigating 2D and 3D shapes.

⏳ Understanding Past & Present – To help children understand how things change over time, we’ll be talking about their own growth and exploring chronology. It would be wonderful if you could send in a baby photo of your child for this activity. You can also upload one via ClassDojo if that’s easier.

✂️ Fine Motor Skills – We continue to focus on developing fine motor strength, including using cutlery correctly and handling tools like scissors. Your support in encouraging these skills at home is greatly appreciated.

🥞 Cooking with Gordon Bennett – we’ll be getting creative in the kitchen! The children will have the opportunity to make pancakes, prepare healthy snacks and breakfasts, and explore traditional Easter foods as part of our learning.

Gentle Reminders & Housekeeping -

📖 Home-school diaries will continue to be collected on Thursdays and kept overnight so that your child receives a new reading book on Friday. Please ensure all books are returned each week to facilitate this process.

📚 Our library slot is still on Wednesday afternoons. Kindly remind your child to return their book each week to make the most of this wonderful resource.

🧥 Clothing & Weather – Please ensure your child comes in every day with a warm coat. To avoid any mix-ups, label all hats and gloves. If your child was sent home in school clothing last term could you please return it as we are getting low on pants, socks, tights and trousers. Additionally, please send your child’s Forest School kit back to school with them. With the ever-unpredictable weather, warm hats, a spare pair of socks and gloves are still highly recommended for our outdoor learning sessions.

💧 Water Bottles – ideally, these should only contain water. We’re happy to refill them throughout the day as needed.

🍏 Snacks – We provide fruit and a snack every morning, so please avoid sending additional snacks, as we have children with allergies and specific dietary needs to consider.

🚫 Personal Belongings – To prevent loss or damage, we kindly ask that children do not bring toys, jewellery, hairbrushes, lip balms, or valuable items into school.

💊 Medication & Health Updates – If your child requires medication during the school day, please take it to the school office, where you’ll be asked to complete the necessary forms. If there are any changes to your child’s health or allergies, please inform the office to ensure our records are up to date.

📞 Contact Details – If you’ve changed your phone number or contact details since the start of the year, please inform the office so we can update our records.

⏰ School Hours & After-School Care – The school day begins at 8:45 AM and concludes at 3:25 PM. If you require after-school care, please contact The Wrap Club to make arrangements.

We’re looking forward to another fantastic half-term of learning, growth, and fun!

Thank you for your continued support.
