Christmas @DPS

This newsletter seeks to explain the excitement of the next three weeks @DPS! A 'regular' newsletter will be with you next week!

There is a lot of information below explaining what is planned in the village and in school over the festive period. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to make contact with us.

The calendar part below, and on the school website, gives all the dates and times of the forthcoming concerts. No tickets are needed for these events but please always keep in mind that you might need to stand. It also shares dates that Christmas jumpers or tops or dresses etc, can be worn. These are, of course, optional. Please don't feel that you need to go out and buy jumpers purely for school though - festive colours are great, and our school uniform is already a great festive colour!

On Monday we will be switching on our Christmas lights and hanging beautiful hoops in the hall, in true DPS fashion. Thank you to Stoke Goldington Christmas Trees for the beautiful tree, and Mr West for supplying the concrete tree stand, as always.

With Christmas rapidly approaching, we are all very aware of the ever-increasing living costs! With this in mind, please be reminded that, as always, there is no expectation in the slightest to buy the staff gifts. This is not to say that they are not appreciated, but if you would like to consider a thank you ‘gift’, personalised messages and cards are always wonderful. Staff will be ensuring that, with the PTA’s support, the Christmas parties are special and enjoyable and this will form their Christmas gift to the children.

Christmas Lunch @ DPS

All children in the school are invited to enjoy a delicious Christmas lunch on Wednesday 14th December. If your child regularly has Fresh Start lunches then you can order this on the regular system. If your child ordinarily has packed lunches, then they can still sign up for a lunch.

To make this as easy as possible, you can send an envelope to the school office with your child's name and preference for lunch eg, Meat or Vegetarian. Please order this by Thursday 10th December. Please enclose £2.50 to cover the cost of this lunch.

The menu is as follows:

Meat option

Turkey, chipolata, roast potatoes, peas, carrots ad brussels, stuffing and optional gravy

Vegetarian option

Butternut squash 'wellington', roast potatoes, peas, carrots, brussels, stuffing and optional vegetarian gravy

Desert

Christmas chocolate yule log / seasonal fruit platter

It's not too late to book a ticket for the PTA's Christmas Movie Night (above)

You'll have seen that we are hoping to take the whole school to see 'A Christmas Carol' at Planet Ice (Milton Keynes) on December 8th as they present a fun filled version adapted by the Show & Skate class for amateur and professional skaters.

You can sign your child up for this trip via Arbor. The cost is £10.

A staggering 321 children have now signed up!

A current DPS student will be skating in it and former DPS students too!

DPS Christmas Shop

On 12th December, we will be opening up the DPS Christmas Shop. If needed, it will re-open later in the same week to try and avoid disappointment.

Children should bring in £2 if they would like to buy a gift for a family member. They will be able to choose this and wrap it ready to go straight under the tree. They can choose multiple gifts if they would like. For younger children, please write on the envelope who they need to buy a gift for.
