School lunches and Census Day
We are trying hard to increase the number of children that take up the offer of school lunches across school. Our drive comes from the fact that the lunches are delicious, there are multiple options on offer, they don't cost you a penny for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, and you don't have to take any time making them! In KS2, there is a £2.50 cost for the lunch.
Although many of you have signed up for Fresh Start lunches, many of you still send in packed lunches. As one of the lunchtime offers is the deli bar i.e., a choice of bread, rolls, wraps, baguette with cheese, tuna, ham, or egg, and then full access to the salad bar and a dessert, it replicates pretty much what most of you put in lunch boxes.
What you might not know is that on school census days, the next one is Thursday 5th October, the take-up of universal free school meals, is a major factor in the funding that we receive in the following school year.
We obviously want to receive as much money as we can possibly get to feed back into supporting your children's learning. When your child brings a packed lunch on census day (in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2), we miss out on vital funds for the year ahead. Not only this, we think your child is missing out on a great free meal option.
If your child was going to have a packed lunch on this day, please consider having a meal from Fresh Start. There are two ways to do this.
1. Set up an account with Fresh Start – we will be sending you the login details if you have not signed up previously. This is the preferred option.
2. If you forget or find this more difficult, your child will be added on to the packed lunch option.
Thank you very much for supporting us if you can.
