A very warm welcome back to Mrs Allison Penwell as she re-joined us on Monday supporting teaching and learning across the school.

It has been wonderful having a swimming pool on the school site and being able to offer the opportunity to all year groups whereby this has previously only been for Y4 and Y6 @DPS. Huge thanks to Elite Swimming UK for providing this unique opportunity. The children have made very strong progress in the lessons and have had lots of fun.
Below you can see one of the Reception groups having lots of fun. Reception children haven't had the chance to have swimming at school for many many years!

Mrs Jacobs and Mrs Watson have been working with the Community Project Team at Wickes with the aim of creating a kitchen to teach cookery skills. Not only does cooking provide wonderful, memorable opportunities to develop children’s Maths, English and Science skills and knowledge, but it also supports their personal, social and emotional development. This week we received some exciting news that Wickes have kindly offered to provide the school with a kitchen free of charge. Our resident chef ‘Gordon Bennett’ is thrilled that he will be able to share his culinary expertise in a beaux new learning area very soon!

Important information for Wrap Club users
The reminders for payment are auto generated by the booking system. Bank statements are received regularly and are entered onto the booking system and you will receive an automatic allocation email when this has been done. There may be a delay in this due to the dates the statements are received, so there may be a cross-over with the auto reminders. Childcare vouchers can be a month in arrears.
Please note: Payments cannot be allocated prior to receiving the bank statement and I have confirmation the monies have been received.
Thank you for bearing with me during these times.
Mrs Godwin
School Business Manager

PAG Meeting One – Wednesday 22nd November at 2.30pm
Our first Parent Action Group meeting of the academic year will be held in the school library. The focal point of this meeting will be behaviour including how it is viewed and how it is managed. It is my aim to keep the meeting positive and constructive and whilst all opinions are welcome, I want to use your input and ideas to help continue moving the school forward. Everyone is welcome to attend, and I hope many of you are able to attend.
Mr. Mike Pennington

On Friday 17th November, we will be recognising Children in Need Day. Children are warmly encouraged to dress up, if they would like, in yellow, onesies, pyjamas, spots or Pudsey inspired. All donations are gratefully received.
Following the success of last year's sale, we would also like to run a bring and buy sale at the end of the day. Please bring any unused toys or books to school on the morning of Friday 17th, and then, stay straight after school at 3.30pm, we'll have a sale with all items donated ready to buy items for either 50p or £1.
Thank you to Miss Stanley and the school council members for running this sale.

We would love to see you at the next PTA meeting on Tuesday 7th November (at 6pm) in the school studio.

Safeguarding
Attending school on a daily basis, wherever possible, is very important and is something that we take very seriously. We always follow up on non-attendance as part of our first day response and in line with our safeguarding practice. Please always ensure that you call, leave a message or send an email if your child is unable to attend school.
This week we had an external audit looking at attendance to ensure that our practice matches expectations and supports the strong monitoring of children (in order to support their progress in school). We are pleased that this went very well.
As a DSL and DDSL team, we also completed our annual statutory training this week in a session led by Clare Williams at Jubilee Wood.
As always, please report any concerns to our safeguarding team:
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) - Mrs Rachel Rice
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) - Mrs. Lynn Mildren, Mrs. Natalie Parsonson, Miss. Steph Forward and Mr. Mike Pennington

Calling all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 families...
Could you please have a good look at home and see if you can find any of our Big Cat reading books? We are missing a few books from some of the sets and would love to be able to welcome them back.
Thank you

| 03 Nov 2023 With the wetter and muddier definitely making a presence, we encourage all children in the school to slip off their shoes inside their classroom door and either put on slippers, or stay in their socks. As we have shared in assemblies, we wouldn't want to wear muddy shoes in our homes, so we'... |
| 03 Nov 2023 Does anyone have contact with a vending machine company? We would like to have one in school and stock it with books as an incentive for reading. Thank you for all and any possible contacts. |
| 03 Nov 2023 Thank you so much for bringing in bags and bags of unused clothes for our collection. These clothes will support many other families and, in the process, the collection has helped us to raise £189.05! Thank you, Mrs. Hodge, for organising this fundraising opportunity... | |

As has become the tradition, we are currently working on beautiful artwork ready for a Remembrance Day display.
Whilst some of the work will be outside school for you to enjoy on Sunday 12th, we will also be providing access to a huge selection of artwork using QR codes - a new way for us to share children's learning!
We don't want to restrict the community's access to our displays, so we hope that you will all support those new to QR codes to ensure that everyone can enjoy the art beyond Sunday 12th. In this way, we know that the art will continue to be beautiful in classes and not spoilt by the unpredictable weather. Please ensure that you bring your mobile phones along with you to enjoy all aspects of the display.

Uniform reminders
Please be reminded that full forest school kits need to be in school every day, ie, waterproofs and wellies. As the weather is getting colder and wetter, hats and scarves are suggested too as well as possible extra layers underneath waterproofs.
Forest school kits will be used, as needed, if your child chooses to play on the field over the winter months.
