Sunflower Award
at Deanshanger Primary School

 

In memory of Mrs Annette Robson

Annette was a very special lady and a highly valued member of staff. She is sorely missed at Deanshanger Primary School.

As the sunflower was her favourite flower, we had created a termly Sunflower Award to recognise and celebrate children that show the attributes that she showed daily - kindness, caring, positivity, strength and loyalty.

Reception Award - Eloise

Eloise has truly made an exceptional start to school, and her outstanding qualities have not gone unnoticed.

Eloise’s unwavering “have a go” attitude is truly remarkable. She approaches each day with a warm smile and a willingness to help her friends, whether it’s offering a helping hand or sharing her knowledge. Eloise consistently demonstrates her commitment to doing her best, and her dedication to her peers is evident in her actions.

What sets Eloise apart is her remarkable ability to assist in various activities, no matter the task at hand.  She listens attentively and then sets off to complete her work. She is always thinking of others and includes everyone around her when learning and playing. 

Additionally, she goes above and beyond by assisting Mrs. Watson with her tidying-up duties, a true superstar! 

Eloise embodies the spirit of the Sunflower Award!

Year 1 Award - Ayla

Ayla is an exceptionally kind, thoughtful, and caring member of our class. She is a happy individual who always brightens mine and her friends' day. She loves to help her friends when they need help with their task and consistently works hard with her learning. She enjoys challenging herself and especially with creative tasks.

We definitely have an artist in the making! You make us proud every day, we are very lucky to have you Ayla.

I am so proud of the amazing progress you have made, and this is due to your dedication and effort to your learning every day! I have absolutely loved having you as a member of the ladybird class, and we are lucky to have shared a wonderful year with you!

Year 2 Award - Lily

Lily Hall is a truly smiley and happy girl. She is always positive and has a 'yes, I can' attitude in everything she does. She puts 100% into her work and loves to challenge herself.   

Lily has an inquisitive and engaged mind and is excited to tackle challenges every day. She is both kind-natured and helpful towards her friends and loves to help in the classroom.                                                                      

She has a great deal of respect for her friends and school and is very considerate of others.  She is always courteous, polite and kind to others.

Year 3 Award - Mya

The person who has been chosen for the Sunflower Award in Year 3 is always positive, they are always thinking of others, and she always shows polite manners to everyone. She is always willing to help others when she thinks they need it and is always showing empathy to the other children, not only in her class but around the school.

Mya has a tremendous growth mindset and she does not give up. She has an incredibly positive attitude to doing her work and always thinks she can do more. She always wants to share her learning with the class by putting her hand up for all questions. Our school values could not be represented in a better way than with this child as she is respectful, empathetic and collaborates well with other children. The other children in the class see Mya as a great friend and someone to look up to.

Year 4 Award - Tia

The person I have chosen for this term’s year 4 Sunflower award is someone who always tries their best, even when they find work challenging. They have a cheery disposition and face all challenges with a smile. They are always ready to lend a helping hand, whether to a teacher or a fellow pupil.

There is no doubt that they are a deserving winner...well done, Tia. Thank you for everything you bring to school and for the exceptional way that you support others and bring happiness.

Year 5 Award - Hayden

Hayden has made an amazing start to the school year. He is always focused, makes the correct behaviour choices at all times and is clearly committed to his learning.

Hayden always strives to improve his work further and is able to build upon previous misunderstandings. He has made some really positive friendship choices this year, which have enabled him to make a strong start to his learning in Year 5. He has really pushed himself, to become more confident in the classroom, sharing his thoughts and ideas more often, something which he doesn’t find easy . Finally, Hayden is also an amazing sportsman and shows great qualities of a good leader and team player.

Year 6 Award - Margarita 

Margarita, you have demonstrated an infectious and positive personality and a great deal of resilience throughout your start to Year 6. 

This was clearly evident when, despite a horrible injury, you attended our residential and took part in as many activities as you could. When you were not participating in an activity, you encouraged, danced, sang and danced some more with a smile on your face the whole time!

Since then, you have continued to work hard in order to become even better than the star you already are.
